About me
The unending possibilities of creating stories, environments and characters with my mind, my hands, my words captured my imagination in a way nothing else could. Aged nine I was taken to see a play with school at a local theatre and fell in love with the medium. I remember being so gripped by the action that I was shocked when the lights came up and we were still in Ipswich. This love of telling stories and theatre prompted me to study Theatre Design at university. I was taught how to fashion whole worlds and their inhabitants through set, costume and puppetry and loved every second of the process. Due to studying at a university as opposed to a specialist college we had no access to directors, actors or stage managers. We, therefore, had to play those roles ourselves giving us a broader view of the theatre. Since graduating and working freelance as a designer my position on the profession has changed. While I love creating the worlds these stories take place in I have found my passion lies with the facilitation of the production once running. I have often acted as ASM or dresser for the productions I have designed as it is the backstage environment which really grips me, the last couple of years of working with smaller companies has enabled me to do so thus broadening my experience of working theatre.License & Passport
