About me
I started my acting career at the age of 13 as one of Fagin's gang in the original production of Lional Bart's "Oliver" at the then New Theatre in St. Matin's Lane, London.I went on to appear in various productions at the Bristol Old Vic, and the Hampstead Theatre and I had the part of "Mr. Saunders" in "The Schoolmistress" at the Savoy Theatre in London. I played "Octavious" in the successful musical "Robert and Elizabeth" that ran for two years at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue.
I was Laurie in "Little Women", Cameron Macintosh's second production which went on tour, culminating at the Jeanetta Cochrane theatre in London. I played the main character in a production called "Return the Rain" a musical that appeared at the Little Theatre in St. Martin's Lane and at the Young Vic.
I mainly worked in the theatre but had cameo roles in two feature films - The Pumpkin Eater in which I had a scene with Ann Bancroft, and Goodbye Mr. Chips in which I had scenes with Peter O'Tool and Petula Clark.
I was in a number of TV productions including a leading role with Jenny Agutter in a TV play entitled "As Many As Are Here Present" which was part of the "Ten Commandments" series. I was in one episode in the Sitcom "And Mother Makes Three" with Wendy Craig and I joined the cast of the soap opera "Crossroads". I also played the defendant (accused of smuggling heroin) in one of the Crown Court productions for Granada Television.
With the advent of a growing young family, and the need to support them, I decided to give the acting a little break - which became very extended with a move to a 300 year old cottage with 9 acres of land that we bought in Wales.
Now that my children are thoroughly grown up I decided to get back into acting and I am taking to it like a duck to water! The instinct for it has never left me.
